Handicap Manager for Excel (Version 5.2b)

Handicap Manager for Excel is a custom application written for
Microsoft Excel for Windows and is completely compatible with Excel 97, Excel
2000, Excel 2002 (XP), Excel 2003, Excel 2007, Excel 2010 and higher. It meets all the calculation requirements of the USGA
Handicap System for the computation of USGA Handicap Indexes. It
can also be used to compute scoring averages, league handicaps
and custom handicaps based on parameters that you set. Its user
friendly interface, and point & click simplicity make it easy
to use even for computer novices. Whether you are maintaining
USGA Handicap Indexes for all the members of a golf club or just
tracking your own scores, Handicap Manager for Excel provides an easy solution.
The Handicap Manager for Excel download provides a fully functional version
of the program that can be used for 24 days for free. Registration
is required to continue using it beyond the 24 day trial period. (Once the 24
day trial period has expired, entering a valid registration code will
permanently revive the program to its full functionality.)

We first released the program in May of 1997 and have strived to improve
it ever since. Unlike most major software companies, we provide a complete
history of major and minor releases as well as any issues that were resolved with
their release.
Version 5.2b provides the following fixes and enhancements to version 5.2
- Fixed the Advance to Next Golfer on Enter feature to default to the
golfers Normal Tee Marker when entering scores.
- Fixed the Assign Teams/Pairing Randomly feature in the Prepare
Tournament Sheet function.
Version 5.2 provides the following fixes and enhancements to version 5.1d
- Provided improved help file access in Excel 2010.
- Fixed a problem with incorrect page breaks when using the "Print Each
Golfer on a Separate Page" option is selected when Preparing Scoring
Reports.
Version 5.1d provides the following fixes and enhancements to version 5.1c
- Fixed a problem with the Total Match Points column on the Teams sheet
rounding to nearest whole number instead of showing half point for tied
matches.
- Fixed a problem with a run-time error with the Date Report when the
"Interval Between Rounds" was set to 1 day.
Version 5.1c provided the following fixes and enhancements to version 5.1b
- Fixed a problem with a compile error when using the Export function
in Excel 2000.
Version 5.1b provided the following fixes and enhancements to version 5.1a
- Fixed a problem with the wrong person being listed on the Teams sheet
for the last team when creating teams manually. This only impacted the
golfers listed on the teams sheet. The team members were still correct along
with all the corresponding data.
- Fixed a problem with the screen flashing excessively when creating or
updating team assignments.
Version 5.1a provided the following fixes and enhancements to version 5.1
- Added the ability to include scores from the program when preparing a
tournament sheet for a date already played.
Version 5.1 provided the following fixes and enhancements to version 5.0c
- Fixed a problem with being prompted for the VBA password when exiting
the program. (This problem is most often caused by some add-ins that are
installed by third party applications.)
- Fixed Help file installation and provided improved compatibility with
64-bit versions of Windows.
Version 5.0c provided the following fixes and enhancements to version 5.0b
- Fixed a run-time error when importing data from a Handicap Manager
for Excel Version 5 file that does not have any teams listed.
- Fixed a problem with the incorrect tees being referenced on the
Golfers sheet for golfers with tees other than white listed when the data
was imported from a previous version of the program. This could potentially
result in an incorrect course handicap being listed on the Golfers sheet.
Version 5.0b provided the following fixes and enhancements to version 5.0a
- Fixed a problem in some versions of Excel with the Freeze Handicap
checkbox in the Golfers Information dialog box not working properly and not
preventing the golfer's handicap index from updating.
Version 5.0a provided the following fixes and enhancements to version 5.0
- Reverted back to showing the "Adjusted Gross Score" instead of the
"Score" on the Golfers Report and Handicap Cards.

- Fixed a problem with handicaps not calculating with some
international date formats.
- Fixed a problem with the Course Handicap Calculator dialog box sizing
when in manual entry mode.
- Updated the included Course Handicap Calculator companion program for the
Palm OS to work with the most recent version of the Palm OS.
Version 4.2 provided the following fixes and enhancements to version 4.1a
- Added date selection calendar for entering dates in all phases of the
program.
- Updated how nine hole scores are combined to form 18 hole scores when
using the 18 hole handicap format to comply with the 2008 changes to the USGA Handicap System.
- Provided a limited kiosk mode for entering scores only.
- Automatically imports registration numbers from previous versions so
they do not have to be re-entered.
- Fixed an issue with the course handicap calculation on the tournament
sheet with some nine hole handicap formats.
- Improved compatibility with international date formats.
Version 4.1a provided the following fixes and enhancements to version 4.0
- Fixed a problem with Welcome/About dialog box not displaying
correctly.
- Fixed a run-time error that occurred when using an 18 hole handicap
format and entering nine hole scores before any 18 hole scores were entered
first.

- Updated the program help file to the newer HTML help format.
- Improved compatibility with Windows Vista and Excel 2007.
Version 4.0c provided the following improvements and fixes to
version 4.0b.

- Fixed a problem with tee markers reverting to the normal tee markers
in the Scores dialog box when changing golfers even when the "Switch to Home
Course When Changing Golfers" checkbox is not checked.

- Fixes problem when importing 9 hole course data from previous
version.
- Fixes problem with course handicaps not calculating properly on the
Golfers sheet when a 9 hole home course is selected.

Version 3.7a provided the following fixes to version 3.7.
- Fixes run-time error in Excel 2000 that occurred when using the extra
statistics feature but failing to enter a value for one of the statistics.
- Fixes a "load failure" error in Excel 97 when calculating handicaps and
preparing scoring reports. The error did not prevent the functions from
working properly.
Version 3.7 provided the following fixes to version 3.6d.
- Added the ability to automatically change the golfer's name on the
Scores sheets when it is changed on the Golfers sheet. This insures that all
the scores stay linked to the correct golfer.
- Added the ability to enter an initial handicap index for new golfers.
- Added progress indicator when calculating handicaps or preparing scoring
reports for a large number of golfers.
- Trapped error when using the Publish function in Excel 97.
- Improved dynamic interactivity in the Golfers dialog box.
- Improved protection on Golfers sheet to limit accidental errors.
- Improved formatting on Golfers and Scores sheets.
Version 3.6d provided the following fixes and enhancements to version 3.6c.
- Provided an improved team generation algorithm for the tournament sheet
that makes teams more fair and evenly matched.
- Improved score entry speed and efficiency by providing an option to
advance to the next golfer by hitting Enter if there is no score for that
golfer.
- Switched score dates to a standard Windows date format for improved
compatibility for international users.
- Added automatic page title and column header printing for reports and
data sheets.
- Adjusted column headings to print properly on data sheets.
Version 3.6c provided the following fixes and enhancements to version
3.6b.
- Added the ability to manually set and freeze a golfer's handicap,
stopping recalculation.
- Fixed a run-time error that occurred on some Excel 97 installations
when creating Scoring Reports.
- Fixed a problem with scores from the same golfer on the same date
sometimes being listed out of order on reports.
Version 3.6b provided the following fixes to version 3.6a.
- Fixed a problem with the maximum handicap settings not being used to
limit maximum handicaps.
- Imports the Organization name if available when Importing Data from a
Previous Version.
Version 3.6a provided the following fixes to version 3.6.
- Fixed a Run-time 1004 "Cannot change part of merged cell" error when
using the the Publish Golfers Report function.
- Fixed a Run-time error that occurred when the number of allotted
golfers for the registered version is exceeded.
Version 3.6 provided the following fixes and enhancements to version 3.5b.
- Provided automated preparation and HTML publishing of new
"Pre-Tournament Sheet."
- Provided the ability to limit maximum handicaps.

Version 3.5b provided the following fixes and enhancements to version 3.5a.
- Fixed a problem that the kept the "Extra Statistics" display setting
from being remembered in the Scoring Reports dialog box.

security of all the program macros.
Version 3.5a provided the following fixes and enhancements to version 3.5.
- Fixed a problem that could cause incorrect course handicaps when the Sort Golf Courses option was selected entering new golf courses.
- Fixed incorrect handicap card date format on some installations.
- Enables broader range of acceptable numbers for tracking custom statistics.
- Enables hiding the Course Handicap on the Golfers Report.
Version 3.5 provided the following enhancements to version 3.1a.

Version 3.1a provided the following fixes and enhancements to
version 3.1.
- Fixed a problem with the golf course field being left blank in the Score entry
dialog under certain conditions.
Version 3.1 provided the following fixes and enhancements to
version 3.0e.
- Added the ability to hide the Average Score column in Golfer Reports.
- Extends the Scores Posted calculation options to the USGA Handicap Method.
- Allows the full differential percentage in custom handicap calculation methods to
exceed 100% to as high as 125%.
- Fixes minor number formatting problems on the Scores and Scoring Reports sheets.
- Fixes a minor problem with too many score appearing on the Scoring Reports sheet
under some circumstances.
Version 3.0e provided the following fixes and enhancements to
version 3.0b.
- Fixes a problem with the score entry dialog box not properly updating
the player's course handicap when switching golfers but not golf courses.
This would also sometimes result in an incorrect course handicap and net
score being entered on the Scores sheet. It did not affect handicap
calculations.
- Fixes a problem that would sometimes result in a "run-time error
13 - type mismatch" or "run-time error 16 - expression too
complex" errors that occurred under certain circumstances when the
program automatically combined nine hole scores.
- Fixed a problem with the score entry dialog box that would leave
combined 18 hole course data in the dialog box after the program
automatically combined two nine hole scores. Version (3.0b) provided the
following fixes and enhancements to version 3.0a.
Version 3.0b provided the following fixes and enhancements to
version 3.0a.
- Fixes a problem with a run-time error resulting from a golfer's home
course not being listed on the Golf Course sheet. (This can only happen if
one manually overwrites the golfer's golf course on the Golfers sheet.)
- Fixes a problem with importing data from version 1.x causing a run-time
error.
Version 3.0a provided the following fixes and enhancements to
version 3.0.
- Fixes a problem that occurs when adding a new golfer that caused the last
three columns on the Golfers sheet to be displaced. The problem was only
temporary since using the "Prepare Golfer Reports" function would
automatically correct it.
Version 2.1b provided the following fixes and/or enhancements to version
2.1a
- Fixes a problem with the "Delete Old Scores" function on the
Scores worksheet. Although old scores were properly deleted, the last three
columns would not be deleted and would therefore be shifted out of sync with

Version 2.1a provided the following fixes and/or enhancements to version
2.1
- Fixes a problem with the Golfer sheet not sorting correctly. The golfer list was
sorting by course handicap when it should have been sorting alphabetically by Home Course and Golfer Name.
Version 2.1 provided the following fixes and/or enhancements to version 2.0
- Fixes a problem with handicap adjustments required for exceptional tournament scores
under the USGA handicap system. This problem occurs when calculating handicaps for
multiple golfers in version 2.0, it did not affect earlier 1.x versions or non-USGA
handicap methods. It would only impact the calculation for golfers who had posted at
least two tournament scores that had handicap differentials at least three strokes
better than their USGA Handicap Index.
Version 2.0 was a major new release and maintains all the fixes and
enhancements from the previous versions listed below as well as a host of new
features listed above.
Version 1.9 provided the following fixes and/or
enhancements to version 1.8
- Fixes a problem with home scores mistakenly being marked as away scores
when the program automatically advanced to the next golfer and switched back
to the golfer's home course in the process.
- Prevents the program from automatically switching back to the player's
home course when the "Advance to Next Golfer on Enter" check box
is selected in the score entry dialog box. This makes entering scores for a
group of golfers who all played the same away course much easier.
- Fixes an obscure problem that caused a premature warning that the
program limit on the total number of scores was being approached. This
problem did not prevent entering additional scores but issued the warning by
mistake.
Version 1.8 provided the following fixes and/or
enhancements to version 1.7
- Changes the USGA handicap calculation method to reflect changes made by
the USGA in the way tournament scores are maintained and utilized for the
adjustment of USGA Handicap Indexes.
- Handicap cards were updated to account for USGA sanctioning of nine
hole handicaps - USGA Handicap Indexes (N).
- Fixes a problem with displaying dates on the handicap cards. Users who
had modified their Windows Regional Settings to display dates with a four
digit year format had a problem with the handicap revision date on the
handicap cards appearing as ###### since the longer date did not fit in the
cell.
- Improves handicap card printing on some printers.
- The program documentation was updated to show changes in the
implementation of nine hole handicaps - USGA Handicap Indexes (N), changes
in the Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) process and general improvements to
the documentation.
Version 1.7 provided the following fixes and/or
enhancements to version 1.6
- Fixes a problem with the program not always
advancing correctly to the next golfer when that option
is selected in the Score Entry dialog box.
Version 1.6 provided the following fixes and/or
enhancements to version 1.5
- Made the course and golfer drop down lists longer in
the Score Entry dialog box. This makes picking from a
long list of courses or golfers much easier.
- Updates the program documentation to reflect our new
permanent web site and e-mail support address.
Version 1.5 provided the following fixes and/or
enhancements to version 1.2
- Makes entering multiple scores for one or more
golfers much easier. If you're using the league or golf
club version and have to enter a large number of scores,
you will definitely want to download the upgrade.
- Updates the program documentation to reflect our new
mailing address.
